A Guide For Teens: Getting the Job That's Right For You

You should apply for jobs which are matching your skills and experience you have. Before you even start to look for a job, you should start preparing your resume and write a targeted cover letter to illustrates why and how you are the best candidate for the job and your resume must be done in an honest way so as to convince the hiring manager that you are the right candidate for the job.

It will be best if you know any of their customers and suppliers which you can get some inputs from them. Do you know any of their former employees? If you know just one of them, you can ask them about the company. By doing this you would have an ideas of what to expect from the company when they hire you.

Other than looking on the web or newspaper for jobs opportunities, you should begin working on your own network with others. Find out if you knew anyone who is working in a company and have vacancy available. You should arrive early about 12 to 15 minutes before the actual interview.

You should not smoke, drink or chewing gums. One Seattle University study finds out that 90% of all executives surveyed they won't hire a smoker than a non-smoker even if qualification is similar. Smoking is bad and will make you look nervous if you smoke before the interview.

When you are at a lunch or dinner interview, you are best not to order drinks while others may order. You should maintain eye contact and smile when the interview starts. You must not speak in a monotone and always be positive in your responses to show you are interested and excited about the job. Of course be honest and be yourself and don't overdo it.

There is no point being dishonest as you will doomed to be fired when the truth is out. Just be yourself since you want to start building a trust between you and your future employer. If you get hired because of your convincing acting, you and your employer will both be annoyed later.

You should not overstate your capabilities in a bid to impress the interviewers as this will make you look silly. After the interviewer tells you the interview is over, you should not keep quiet but instead convey your interest in the job and ask what the next step will be.

You should never choose an occupation just because it's a hot trend and experts predict it will be in hot demand. You should instead find one which interests you. If not, you will become stressful and unproductive working in a job you dislike.

After your interview, you should not forget to send a thank-you message or a polite email and thank them for taking their time. Your etiquette says a lot about yourself. If you fails to express gratitude for the interviewer taking time to have an interview with you, this shows more than just bad attitudes and definitely send a message to the interviewer you are not really interested in the job in the first place.

Think before you say anything. Many nervous candidates tend to say the interviewer name wrongly which reflect badly on them. You should instead find out the interviewer name and learn to speak correctly before the interview. Try to memorize the name(s).

If you are not able to find out the name of the interviewer before the meeting but only when you meet the interviewer personally, it will be best that you write down the name on your notepad as soon as you sit down for the interviewer after the interviewer introduction.

However if you do slip-up, don't fear but apologize quickly and sincerely and proceed on. You should prepare yourself against any potential interview disasters. By doing this, you will be working towards your dream of getting the job you wanted.
