Nowadays the job market still is volatile and you never know what could happen the following day and that is why now is the time you should start to safeguard your career for the future. With the rapid changes in today's economy and technology, don't expect that your job will be protected and you be secure for life.

Your attitude in any job is very important, the way you treat your colleagues, how you deal with difficult situations, whether or not you done your job with compassion or care and even your daily mood have a profound influence on the people you work with.

Remember you should not make any excuses when things do not go according to plan but instead be honest and take responsibility for your own actions and decisions. Although you may not be able to control the situation, you are in control in how you choose to live it.

Make the right choices. Never give the impression the reason why you would choose to work in the company is due to its geographic location. By knowing how intense the competition is, you will more likely to appreciate your current job and take steps to upgrade yourself.

One way to sabotage your career is use your company stationery and mail room for personal correspondence which is consider cheating and once you get find out, the consequences will be great. You should not commit these silly acts just because you want to save a few cents. 

You should never use your employer's assets like the computer and software to create resume and even the Internet connection for job-hunt during work hours that are violating your company policies. Again you are taking the risk that may cost you your job. 

Don't even think of job hunt using your company assets after your working hours are over, during breaks or during other authorized personal time. Never use the company email address for personal messages other than work related purposes. Don't forget, if you do lose your current job, you will lose your valuable data in the company account. Never take the risk. 

How you express yourself clearly and letting others know what you are doing and thinking positive is critical for your job security. Do not harass other workers during working hours and take note harassment (sexual and racial) is a serious offence. 

No matters which company you work in, you must have the attitude of willing to compromise and tolerate differences that might happens during work. The most important for the rest of your career advancement is to ensure you update your resume regularly.

You cannot predict what the future holds, by doing this, you will be able to respond quickly when an employment opportunity arises.
